this is one of my “nature is amazing” posts!

full disclosure: i love the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

when i need a change of perspective or mood, one thing that inspires and calms me is watching the jelly cam at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

If you visit, you’ll hear this calming music as you move through the exhibit. i’m always tempted to roll out a mat and take a nap.

here is the moon jelly cam:

the Aquarium hosts several live cams. if you go to the individual page for each live cam, it lists feeding times. some of the feeding times are narrated, just like you would experience if you were visiting in person.

the open sea cam showcases a one million gallon tank, featuring a diverse set of open ocean animals rarely seen in an Aquarium. the room is dimly lit and plays relaxing music.

i want to take a nap there too.

local tip: on a hot day, the open sea exhibit is a great place to cool off!

the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a research and educational institution. one initiative was their launch of SeafoodWatch.org with downloadable Seafood Watch guides by region to raise awareness of the seafood we can order in restaurants or purchase to help support healthy oceans for future generations.

here is the Central US guide (PDF).
